Sri Lanka Tourism Launches New Logo

At a well attended World Travel Market (WTM) press conference that was held recently, the Sri Lanka Tourism Chairman Dr. Nalaka Godahewa had launched the 2011 Visit Sri Lanka Campaign, with its theme ‘of having eight wonderful experiences in just eight great days.’

The eight different colours of the letters of Sri Lanka in this new logo that was launched here, will represent eight different stories:

Sports and soft adventure

 Scenic

:

Tea and hill country

 Heritage

:

2500 years of civilization and eight UNESCO Sites

Entertainment of festivals and events and a unique place for weddings and honeymoons

The 12 letters of The Wonder Of Asia will depict the 12 month calendar of events for the Visit Sri Lanka 2011 Campaign.

Tree Planting Campaign

To mark the inauguration of the second term in office of HE The President Mahinda Rajapaksa, a tree planting campaign was held at the SLTDA Office premises and SLTDA Resorts at Benthota, Katharagama, Anuradhapura, Bandarawela, Nuwara Eliya and Passikudah.

Indians Are The Highest Number Of Tourists To Sri Lanka

Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka during the period of January to November was 497,598 a 43.5% marked increase over the same period of last year. It exceeds the last year ‘s total arrival of 447,890 tourists to Sri Lanka. The total estimated arrival of tourists for this year is 600,000. India continues to be the highest generator of tourists to Sri Lanka this year too. During the month of October this year, tourist arrivals from India was 13,237 an increase of 43.6 % as against October last year.

'Sri Lanka My Love' Photo Exhibition

A photograph was displayed at the launch of the Sri Lanka My Love – photo exhibition by Ms. Yongqiu Liu the wife of Chen Zhanjie the chief correspondent of Xinhua News Agency, Colombo Bureau. This event was held at the Galle Face Hotel , Palm Lounge during the last week. The chief guest for this event was Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development and the guest of honour was HE Yang Xinping, Ambassador for the Peoples Republic Of China to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, whose photograph is on display here . The exhibition depicted an excellent array of photographs on Sri Lanka with special emphasis on Sri Lanka’s natural scenic beauty and rich heritage and all aspects connected with Sri Lanka as ‘ The Wonder Of Asia.’ There were 60 photographs that were exhibited here which has given exposure that could be published for the development of Sri Lanka ‘s tourism to highlight Sri Lanka as an excellent holiday destination to the world with varied attractions to satisfy all visitors coming to Sri Lanka.

Development Of Passikudah National Holiday Resort

SLTDA has called for proposals to design, develop and operate a sewage treatment plant at National Holiday Resort Passikudah on 14th November 2010. The closing date for applications for this proposal is 15th December 2010.
